Number of Retail Field-Screened Fuel Samples Annually (Gasoline and diesel fuel tested at stations)
Inspectors are equipped with hand-held fuel analyzers to test gasoline samples for ethanol content and octane number to ensure that the fuel being sold is labeled correctly and to prevent fraud. Diesel fuel is also screened with these analyzers for biodiesel content and cetane number.
