DES MOINES –For the past eight weeks, the average price of Iowa unleaded retail gasoline has steadily fallen. This week continues that trend with prices down $.06, averaging $3.39 per gallon.
Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.46 per barrel over last week, closing at $89.18.
Brent crude oil also rose in price this week by $3.66 per barrel, currently at $101.60.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $103.16 and Brent crude was at $117.74.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, April 23rd, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.39 across Iowa according to AAA. This is down $.06 from last week and down $.27 from one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $3.52, holding steady at last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were down $.08 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.76. One year ago diesel prices averaged $3.97 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.14 per gallon lower than the national average of $3.90.
Wholesale ethanol prices rose $.03 this week, closing at $2.43. The price of Mid-Grade Blend in Iowa (10% ethanol) closed at $3.30 per gallon, down $.06 from last week’s price and down $.28 from one year ago.
Heating Fuels
Natural Gas prices in Iowa were up $.10 from last week’s report, ending the week at $4.29 / MMbtu.
