DES MOINES – Home heating oil took another steep jump, closing at $3.65 per gallon, $.11 higher than last week.
Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.87 per barrel over last week, closing at $97.51.
Brent crude oil rose in price this week by $1.70 per barrel, currently at $118.50.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $100.74 and Brent crude was at $118.73.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, February 11th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.59 across Iowa according to AAA. This is up $.11 from last week and up $.15 from one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $3.62, up $.07 from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were up $.11 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.99. One year ago diesel prices averaged $3.84 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.09 per gallon lower than the national average of $4.08.
Wholesale ethanol prices fell $.05 this week, closing at $2.39. The price of Mid-Grade Blend in Iowa (10% ethanol) closed at $3.51 per gallon, up $.11 from last week’s price and up $.15 from one year ago.
Heating Fuels
Propane prices held steady at last week’s figures with a statewide average of $1.41 per gallon. Home heating oil rose $.11 from last week’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $3.65 per gallon. Natural Gas prices in Iowa were down $.02 from last week’s report, ending the week at $3.32 / MMbtu.
