DES MOINES – Iowa’s Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Commissioners will join Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey and other state conservation leaders in support of conservation funding at the annual Conservation Partnership Day held at the Capitol in Des Moines on Wednesday, January 25th.
The theme of this year’s event is “Preparing for the future,” and will include displays highlighting conservation efforts in each of the nine Conservation Districts of Iowa (CDI) regions across the state.
Iowa’s high quality soil and abundant water resources has made the state a national leader in agriculture and made agriculture and related industries a key driver of the state’s economy. As a result, it is vital that our state’s soil continues to be protected to ensure productivity and clean waters.
A variety of conservation programs work with farmers and land owners to put conservation practices on the ground and it is important that the state continue to support these programs and staff to continue the efforts to keep our soils productive and healthy.
