Crude Oil Summary
December 7, 2011 (Des Moines, Iowa) – The price of global crude oil went up this week with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) $1.49 higher per barrel over last week, closing at $101.28.
Brent crude oil also rose in the past week ending at $110.18 per barrel on Tuesday’s close, up $.80 from the previous week.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, December 6th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.20 across Iowa according to AAA. This is up a penny as compared to last week. The national average on Tuesday was $3.29, down a penny from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were down $.04 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.95. This is $.02 per gallon higher than the national average of $3.93.
Heating Fuels
Propane was again steady for the week with a statewide average of $1.90 per gallon. Home heating oil was down $.12 since last week’s report ending with a statewide average of $3.45 per gallon. Natural Gas prices in Iowa rose $.03 ending the week at $3.41 / MMbtu.
