DES MOINES – The West Texas Intermediate was down $2.92 for the week, with the price of a barrel of oil closing at $97.22. Unleaded gasoline prices were also lower on the week, down $.06 to $3.12. The full report follows:
Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil went down this week with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) $2.92 lower per barrel over last week, closing at $97.22.
Brent crude oil fell this week, finishing at $107.80 per barrel on Tuesday’s close, down $.02 from the previous week.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, December 19th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.12 across Iowa according to AAA. This is down $.06 as compared to last week. The national average on Tuesday was $3.21, down $.05 from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were down $.09 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.80. This is $.04 per gallon lower than the national average of $3.84.
Heating Fuels
This week propane went down a cent with a statewide average of $1.89 per gallon. Home heating oil was down $.09 since last week’s report ending with a statewide average of $3.32 per gallon. Natural Gas prices in Iowa fell $.09 ending the week at $3.03 / MMbtu.
