Propane Holds Steady; All Other Fuel Prices Down For the Week

Crude Oil Summary
December 14, 2011 (Des Moines, Iowa) – The price of global crude oil went down this week with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) $1.14 lower per barrel over last week, closing at $100.14. 

Brent crude oil fell this week $107.82 per barrel on Tuesday’s close, down $2.36 from the previous week.

Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, December 13th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.18 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is down $.02 as compared to last week.  The national average on Tuesday was $3.26, down $.03 from last week’s price. 

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were down $.06 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.89.   This is $.01 per gallon lower than the national average of $3.90.

Heating Fuels

This week propane held steady with a statewide average of $1.90 per gallon.  Home heating oil was down $.04 since last week’s report ending with a statewide average of $3.41 per gallon.  Natural Gas prices in Iowa fell $.29 ending the week at $3.12 / MMbtu.
