Motor Fuels Down; Natural Gas, Crude Oil on the Rise
Crude Oil Summary
November 30, 2011 (Des Moines, Iowa) – The price of global crude oil went up this week with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) $1.78 higher per barrel over last week, closing at $99.79.
Brent crude oil also rose to $109.38 per barrel on Tuesday’s close, up $1.61 from the previous week.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, November 28th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.19 across Iowa according to AAA. This is down $.08 as compared to last week. The national average on Tuesday was $3.30, down $.03 from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were down $.02 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.99. This is $.03 per gallon below the national average of $3.96.
Heating Fuels
Heating fuels came in this week with propane holding steady with a statewide average of $1.90 per gallon. Home heating oil was down $.11 since last week’s report ending with a statewide average of $3.57 per gallon. Natural Gas prices in Iowa rose $.34 ending the week at $3.38 / MMbtu.
