Natural Gas Prices Fall for Third Straight Week, Heating Oil Rises
Crude Oil Summary
November 16, 2011 (Des Moines, Iowa) – The price of global crude oil rose again this week with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) $2.57 higher per barrel over last week, closing at $99.37.
Brent crude oil fell to $111.90 per barrel on Tuesday’s close, down $3.71 from the previous week.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, November 15th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.34 across Iowa according to AAA. This is down $.05 as compared to last week. The national average on Tuesday was $3.40, down $.03 from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa rose $.12 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $4.00. This is $.02 per gallon below the national average of $3.98.
Heating Fuels
Heating fuels came in this week with propane remaining at last week’s price with a statewide average of $1.91 per gallon. Home heating oil rose $.13 since last week’s report ending with a statewide average of $3.70 per gallon. Natural Gas prices in Iowa fell for the third straight week by $.34 ending the week at $3.09 / MMbtu.
