Retail Gasoline, Propane Prices Fall; All Other Fuels Continue Upward Trend
Crude Oil Summary
October 26, 2011 (Des Moines, Iowa) – Global crude oil prices rose again for the third week in a row with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rising $4.66 per barrel to close at $93.00.
Brent crude oil rose to $112.11 per barrel on Tuesday’s close, up $.03 from the previous week.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, October 25, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.43 across Iowa according to AAA. This is down $.01 as compared to last week. The national average on Tuesday was $3.44. Iowa’s one cent fall and the national average three cent fall were the only drop in fuel prices this week.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa rose $.05 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.80. This is still $.06 per gallon below the national average of $3.86.
Heating Fuels
Heating fuels held fairly steady for the week with propane falling an average of $.01 with a statewide average of $1.91 per gallon. Home heating oil rose $.06 cents since last week’s report ending with a statewide average of $3.50 per gallon. Natural Gas prices in Iowa also rose by $.02 for the week ending at $3.63 / MMbtu.
