NORTHEY TO VISIT 6 NORTH IOWA COMMUNITIES SEPTEMBER 8 AND 12 AS PART OF 99 COUNTY TOUR

DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey today announced that he will be visiting Winnebago, Hancock, Wright, Franklin, Kossuth, and Humboldt Counties on Thursday, September 8 and Monday, September 12 as part of his efforts to visit each of Iowa’s 99 counties again in 2011.

Northey will visiting a variety of businesses and will participate in a panel discussion in Algona.  Media are welcome to attend each of the events.

“I am looking forward to these visits to learn more about what is happening in our rural communities and see if there are things we can do at the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship to help them as create jobs in Iowa,” Northey said.

Kossuth County – 10:30 a.m., Participate in Agriculture Biotechnology panel hosted by the Iowa Biotechnology Association, Pioneer Production Facility, 1901 Hwy 169 N, Algona
Humboldt County – 1:30 p.m., Tour Hog Slat, Inc., 1112 20th St. N., Humboldt

Northey, a corn and soybean farmer from Spirit Lake, is serving his second term as Secretary of Agriculture. His priorities as Secretary of Agriculture are promoting the use of science and new technologies to better care for our air, soil and water, and reaching out to tell the story of Iowa agriculture.
