DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey today announced that he will be visiting Mills and Fremont Counties on Wednesday, June 29 as part of his efforts to visit each of Iowa’s 99 counties again in 2011. With the flooding going on in Southeast Iowa Northey saw these visits as an opportunity to hear from area residents.
“With the heavy flooding Southeast Iowa has been experiencing I wanted to get over there and listen to area residents to see if there are things we can do better at the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship as we seek to serve the people of Iowa,” Northey said.
Iowa Congressman Tom Latham is also planning on participating in the meetings.
“I’m very pleased that Congressman Latham is planning on attending as well and will be able to help respond to area residents,” Northey added.
The details of the visits follow here:
Wednesday, June 29, 2011
Mills County – 10:30 a.m., Town Meeting, Mills County Engineer’s Office, 403 Railroad Ave., Glenwood
