DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey today announced that he will be visiting Floyd, Allamakee, Hancock, Winnebago and Worth Counties on August 26, 27 and 30 as part of his effort to visit each of Iowa’s 99 counties again in 2010 to meet with Iowans and discuss agriculture and the issues facing farmers in the state.
Northey will host town meetings in Charles City, Forest City and Northwood. He will also attend the Northeast Iowa RC&D Annual Appreciation BBQ in Postville, the Feed Ranch Grand Opening in Waukon, and the SciMax Field Day near Goodell.
“I’ve enjoyed these meetings and learned a lot from them during the past three years and look forward to seeing what issues are important to farmers across the state,” Northey said. “I hope farmers and rural residents will come out and share issues, ideas and challenges that are facing Iowa agriculture.”

Northey, a corn and soybean farmer from Spirit Lake, is serving his first term as Secretary of Agriculture. His priorities as Secretary of Agriculture are the opportunities in renewable energy, conservation and stewardship, and telling the story of Iowa agriculture.
