DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey today announced that he will be visiting Van Buren and Davis Counties on Monday, June 21 as part of his effort to visit each of Iowa’s 99 counties again in 2010 to meet with Iowans and discuss agriculture and the issues facing farmers in the state.

Northey will host town meetings in Keosauqua and Bloomfield.

“I’ve enjoyed these meetings and learned a lot from them during the past three years and look forward to seeing what issues are important to farmers across the state,” Northey said.  “I hope farmers and rural residents will come out and share issues, ideas and challenges that are facing Iowa agriculture.”

The details of the visits follow here:

Monday, June 21, 2010
Van Buren County – 2:30 p.m., Village Cup and Cakes, 202 Main St., Keosauqua
Davis County – 4:30 p.m., Farm Bureau office, 712 S West St., Bloomfield

Northey, a corn and soybean farmer from Spirit Lake, is serving his first term as Secretary of Agriculture. His priorities as Secretary of Agriculture are the opportunities in renewable energy, conservation and stewardship, and telling the story of Iowa agriculture.
