DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey today announced that he will be visiting Muscatine, Henry, Jefferson, Lee, Des Moines, and Louisa Counties on Tuesday, March 2 and Wednesday, March 3 as part of his effort to visit each of Iowa’s 99 counties again in 2010 to meet with Iowans and discuss agriculture and the issues facing farmers in the state.
Northey will tour the Muscatine Agriculture Learning Center, speak at the Henry County Corn and Soybean Association meeting in Mt. Pleasant, visit the Fairfield Crop Fair, tour the Siemens Wind Power Facility in Fort Madison, address Des Moines and Louisa County FFA chapters at the Mediapolis High School and then speak to the Des Moines and Louisa County Corn and Soybean Association in Wapello.
“I’ve enjoyed these meetings and learned a lot from them during the past three years and look forward to seeing what issues are important to farmers across the state,” Northey said. “I hope farmers and rural residents will come out and share issues, ideas and challenges that are facing Iowa agriculture.”

Northey, a corn and soybean farmer from Spirit Lake, is serving his first term as Secretary of Agriculture. His priorities as Secretary of Agriculture are the opportunities in renewable energy, conservation and stewardship, and telling the story of Iowa agriculture.
