DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey today announced that he will be visiting Dickinson, Emmett, Sioux and Osceola Counties on Monday, Feb. 22 and Tuesday, Feb. 23 as part of his effort to visit each of Iowa’s 99 counties again in 2010 to meet with Iowans and discuss agriculture and the issues facing farmers in the state.
Northey will be hosting town meetings in Estherville and Sibley. He will also be visiting the Spirit Lake elementary and middle school students, Bank Midwest, and speaking to a biofuels conference at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.
“I’ve enjoyed these meetings and learned a lot from them during the past three years and look forward to seeing what issues are important to farmers across the state,” Northey said. “I hope farmers and rural residents will come out and share issues, ideas and challenges that are facing Iowa agriculture.”

Northey, a corn and soybean farmer from Spirit Lake, is serving his first term as Secretary of Agriculture. His priorities as Secretary of Agriculture are the opportunities in renewable energy, conservation and stewardship, and telling the story of Iowa agriculture.
