Farmers markets must be authorized by the Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship before certified vendors can accept FMNP checks at the market. Market managers must complete an FMNP Farmers Market Assurance Statement to request market authorization in the FMNP. To be authorized in the FMNP, markets must:
operate a minimum of two consecutive hours each week for a majority of weeks of the season, June 1 through October 31;
have a minimum of three eligible certified vendors indicating intent to participate in the farmers market for the majority of weeks of the season;
and post the market hours and days of operation.
Market managers must submit the Farmers Market Assurance Statement by May 1 to be considered for FMNP authorization in order to be listed in the FMNP Directory of Authorized Locations. The deadline for farmers markets to be considered for FMNP authorization is June 30.
