Iowa Horse Breeders Program

   

 

The Horse Breeders Program within the bureau is responsible for the inspecting of all racing Quarter horses, Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds foaling in the state of Iowa.  Bureau inspectors do inspections to verify the residency of Iowa foaled racehorses.  Qualified animals are then registered with the Bureau.

NOMINATIONS ARE DUE FOR THE 2009 HARNESS RACING SEASON:  February 15, 2009 is the deadline to nominate your Iowa Foaled Standardbreds.  All nominations must be post-marked by this date.  All nominees are to be registered as Iowa Foaled with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship no later than May 31, 2009.  For details, conditions, and a nomination form, please see the IHHa website:  www.iowaharnessracing.com
