Other Resources

Center for Watershed Protection
The Center for Watershed Protection works with local, state, and federal governmental agencies, environmental consulting firms, watershed organizations, and the general public to provide objective and scientifically sound information on effective techniques to protect and restore urban watersheds.

Certified Inspector of Sediment & Erosion Control (CISEC) Program
Certification shows knowledge in the principles and practices of sediment and erosion control, can assess conditions at a construction site, evaluate disturbance and storage areas, and evaluate BMPs for effectiveness.

Envirocert International Inc
The former Certified Professionals in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) Inc. reorganized to house the CPSEC, Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI), and Certified Professionals in Storm Water Quality (CPSWQ) certification programs. The new corporate structure will better serve the needs of its registrants, the erosion and sediment control and storm water management industries, the regulatory community, and the interests of the public at large.

Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI)
Certification for individuals who have demonstrated the minimum proficiencies needed to inspect construction and post-construction Management Practices.

Certified Professional in Erosion & Sediment Control (CPESC)
Certification shows qualifications as a professional in erosion and sediment control.

Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality (CPSWQ)
A certification program for individuals actively involved in the storm water profession.

The Low Impact Development Center
The Low Impact Development Center was established to develop and provide information to individuals and organizations dedicated to protecting the environment and our water resources through proper site design techniques that replicate pre-existing hydrologic site conditions.

Iowa Stormwater Education Program (ISWEP)
Providing educational and technical resources to communities, agencies and others to promote positive action on the part of the public to protect water quality. The Iowa Storm Water Education Program was created in 2004 to address the educational needs of cities and others impacted by storm water regulations.

Iowa Statewide Urban Design Standards Manual (SUDAS)
Chapter 7 is the Erosion and Sediment Control design and specifications section of this manual. It provides information for compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) rules under the Clean Water Act.  These regulations require the owner of a site to obtain a permit prior to construction, and ensure that proper steps are taken during construction to help prevent erosion and prevent sediment from leaving construction sites.

Iowa Stormwater Management Manual
The Iowa Stormwater Management Manual contains design guidelines for managing stormwater in Iowa.

International Erosion Control Association
Our membership is comprised of dedicated professionals in erosion and sediment control, including soil scientists, engineers, botanists, biologists, developers, landscape architects, excavating contractors, landscapers, resource managers and a whole host of other individuals who find that commitment to reducing human-activity related erosion provides profound environmental improvement, lowered soil disturbance project costs, reduced resource loss, and occupational satisfaction/fulfillment.

International Erosion Control Association-- Great Rivers Chapter
The Great Rivers Chapter of The International Erosion Control Association (GRIECA) is available to bring together the network of professionals in the erosion and sediment control industry, share the latest technology, and provide educational experiences for the dissemination of knowledge toward the attainment of effective and economical methods of preventing erosion and sedimentation. The chapter serves members located in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska.

Minnesota Erosion Control Association
Created in 1988, MECA strives to communicate erosion and sediment control techniques and practices, and encourage the use of those practices. Recently, MECA has begun to actively promote new and innovative stormwater mangement practices. We are an organization comprised of contractors, suppliers, engineers and government agencies. Our goal is to promote erosion control through existing and new technological developments.

Rainscaping Iowa: Landscaping for Clean Water
A statewide educational campaign that through it's partners promotes urban storm water management practices to protect water quality and reduce runoff. The ultimate goal of the program is to build awareness and behavioral change that will result in the improvement and protection of water resources in Iowa.

Stormwater Manager's Resource Center
The Stormwater Manager's Resource Center is designed specifically for stormwater practitioners, local government officials and others that need technical assistance on stormwater management issues. Created and maintained by the Center for Watershed Protection, the SMRC has everything you need to know about stormwater in a single site.

U.S. EPA Office of Water, Nonpoint Source — urban links
A list of links to EPA and non-EPA sites providing information on various aspects of nonpoint source water management in an urban context

U.S. EPA Office of Water, Nonpoint Source — News-Notes
A periodic report on the Condition of the Water-Related Environment, The Control of Nonpoint Sources of Water Pollution, and the Ecological Management and Restoration of Watersheds.

GreenInfrastructure.Net
The Mission of GreenInfrastructure.Net is to illustrate that identifying and planning for Green Infrastructure– multi-purpose green space networks– provides a framework for smart conservation and smart growth.
