Entomology and Plant Science Bureau
Exotic Pest Program

Several other insects in addition to the gypsy moth may adversely affect agriculture; or rural or urban forests, if they are introduced into the state. Currently, the Laboratory conducts regular limited survey programs for the pine shoot beetle and for the Japanese beetle. The Laboratory will probably soon start such a program for the Asian long-horned beetle. This latter insect is an especially injurious pest which may effect the rural and urban forests of Iowa..
