Organic Certification Program
for Processors/Handlers
Completing all the necessary paperwork for organic certification can be taxing. We would like to make this process as simple as possible. This overview will take you through the process and provide you with resources in the hopes that you will be able to complete the application packet as accurately and timely as possible.
If you seek additional assistance, you may contact our staff: If possible, please direct your questions to us by email first.
IDALS CERTIFICATION RENEWAL
If you are a processor currently certified by IDALS, you will need to notify the Department prior to implementing significant changes in your operation. We are providing you with forms most commonly needed between update periods. These forms are also on the CD Rom provided to you. To inform us of intended changes in your OSP use the following forms as needed: (forms will download when you click on them)
Approval Request of Change for Organic System Plan (examples of these changes include but are not limited to: new products developed, changes in product flow within your plant, changes in product formulation and changes in your product labels.)
If no significant changes have been made in your operation, you will only need to submit the Renewal Application form and fees as well as any Continuous Improvement Points (CIP). An annual on-site inspection will also be required. Processor renewal applications are sent to processors approximately one month before their due date. Questions about the update process or due dates can be addressed to Geraldine Fridlington.
NEW IDALS APPLICANTS
New processor/handler applications are accepted at any time; however, inspections typically occur between November and April.
